Prevail Bank Park Stage at Elk Park
On August 14, 2018, the Phillips Lion Club received unanimous approval from the City of Phillips Common Council to construct a performance stage and bandshell in Elk Lake Park. As reported by Anna Maria Hansen, Price County Review, the Lions Club had worked with the City for over one year to establish and meet criteria that would enhance the Park, such as it being close enough to the pavilion to allow people to sit there and hear the music and yet far enough away to offer privacy to anyone renting the pavilion. It was also not to interfere with any existing Park assets.
With that approval, the Lions Club started to raise funds for the bandshell and by March of 2020 had $70,000 - construction was set to start in 2020. The Lions Club worked with Ayres Associates to develop the fundraising marketing materials. Other organizations were also encouraged to help with this project.
The final cost was estimated to be $90,000. Prevail Bank's donation of $25,000 was the largest and secured naming rights for the stage. However, there also were other many significant donations which are noted on the board next to the stage. Glenville Timberwrights was the design/architects and JC Builders were the construction contractors. In the spring of 2022, building sliding doors for the back of the stage were added. The City of Phillips charges a small fee and handles reservations.
The grand opening occurred on July 1, 2021, with Moon Dogs and Hip Pocket, the first acts to perform on the new stage.
