Marshfield
Wenzel Family Plaza, Everett & Dolores Roehl Stage
Construction Phase of the Plaza
|
The Wenzel Family Plaza occupies a half of a downtown city block between W. 2nd and W. 3rd Streets. It opened to the public on Wednesday, July 11, 2018. The Wenzel Family Plaza committee with a programming coordinator developed entertainment and activities for the remaining 2018 and future seasons. The Stage located at the south end of the Plaza is named for Everett & Delores Roehl.
The total project cost, including site preparation, was $1.8 million; the stage cost was $274,710 of this. Private funding made up over $650,000. In addition to the Wenzel Family and Everett and Dolores Roehl, other major donors contributed, including the Economic Development Board, the Convention and Visitors Bureau, and a grant from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation. Short Elliott Hendrickson, Inc., Chippewa Falls, was the architect; construction and construction management was by the Boson Company. Construction engineering was provided by the City of Marshfield. Red brick is used extensively throughout the Plaza, which reflects other neighboring buildings that use the same material. |
Event plans for the Wenzel Family Plaza offer a variety of concerts and other activities
such as the Farm to Table dinner, a weekly Game Night, and fall celebrations.
