East Troy
Village Square Bandstand
A four-sided tan brick bandstand occupies the center of the historic Village Square in downtown East Troy. Decorative arrow designed trim adorns the columns on each corner and a horse weathervane sits atop the structure. Prior to the 1930s construction of the current bandstand, a wooden one existed. The East Troy Historical Society article below indicates that Works Progress Administration funded it. The current one has bathroom facilities and a drinking fountain. There is a plaque from the 8th grade band of 1987 honoring Mr. James Carter on the bandstand.
The 0.75 acres of land the Square occupies was set aside by town founders Burgess and McKrakin for the purpose of town commerce and public area. The center of the Square was never to be sold, but kept for common area. On the west side of the Square, there is a red brick memorial to honoring the US Armed Forces. Current events at the bandstand include concerts held on First Friday Art Walks and Visiting Santa.

The Village Square is a vibrant place for the village, with stores and restaurants surrounding it. 1910-replica lights were installed around the Square in 1993 and give it added charm.
The East Troy Area Historical Society building is located on the east side of the Square. East Troy House, operating since 1842, claims to be the oldest and continuously operating tavern in Wisconsin, and, is located on the west side of the Square. It was a former stagecoach stop, and now renovated offers not only the restaurant and bar, but a banquet hall (once a bowling alley), and room rental on a long term basis upstairs. Ivan's on the Square, originally built by the Zinn family in the late 1800s as a dry goods and grocery store, located on the Square, is now a restaurant and another historic preservation.
