Chilton
Arno and Helen Rusch Musical Arts Complex
In 1998, the Arno and Helen Rusch Arts Complex was built in Horton Park. The design was modeled after plans from the Village of Little Chute bandshell. A new shell was needed and built for two reasons: (1) a prior gazebo had the wheelchair access ramp fall off of it from wood rot and (2) the band outgrew the old shell (band members were often sitting on top of one another). To accommodate the needs of the band both for storage and a large enough stage, the idea of a new bandshell originated from many meetings. The Chilton City Band undertook the project, coordinating it from early fundraising through the construction period. All funding came from private donors, as listed on a plaque mounted at the back of the bandshell. The Arno's were lead donors contributing $30,000. |
