The Amphitheater was built in Sunset Park around 1996. The Village of Kimberly worked to design it with the engineering firm of McMahon and Associates.
The original idea for the Amphitheater came from a couple - Robert and Shirley Phillips - along with Marcia Trentlage, who had an interest in providing music to the community. There were various fundraisers along with the sale of bricks engraved with the donor's name. The Phillips established a fund with the Community Foundation to help with long term operation and maintenance of it.
The Amphitheater is predominantly used for its Concert Series by the Kimberly Community Band.
It has also been used to host weddings, Paperfest, and other special events.
