The Leach Amphitheater is located in downtown Oshkosh along the Fox River which empties into the nearby Lake Winnebago. Its concept began on November 1, 2003, when the City purchased the riverfront land; by November 17, 2003, there was an announcement that the Leach family donated funds for it - its gift to the community. Others also contributed to it, both public and private.
On May 26, 2005, the first concert was held as part of the weekly Waterfest Concert series which has hosted nationally known bands and artists. On June 4, 2005, the official Grand Opening was held. During the summer season free concerts are also held once per week. Over 7,500 can be accommodated.
The amphitheater also hosts other events including the Oshkosh Half Marathon, movie nights, and Oshkosh Irishfest.
